About This Service

The value of an industrial equipment depends on the identification (manufacturer, model, series and year), the condition it is in, the regime it operated under, what has already been replaced or adapted, and how much the used market pays for a comparable asset. These data can only be obtained on-site, with the equipment in front of the assessor.

We conduct the work according to ABNT NBR 14653-5, complemented by part 1. Each piece of equipment receives its own sheet, with six blocks: identification, technical characteristics, operational condition, item by item conservation status, maintenance and history, and documentation. The photographic record follows a fixed pattern, which includes the namenameplate and serial number, and what the client could not present (manual, history, invoices) is entered in the report as a caveat, not omitted.

In the office, the inspection is converted into a conclusion of value: real and apparent age, physical, functional and technological obsolescence, availability of parts and liquidity, compared with new equivalent and used comparable equipment. The report declares method, assumptions and limitations, so that the value can be defended before an insurance company, bank, auditor or judge.

When to Hire

  • Fixed-asset accounting and impairment testing (CPC 27 and CPC 01)
  • Closure, demobilization or sale of a factory unit
  • Idle or obsolete equipment that needs to be written off or disposed of
  • Need to prove value before a bank, insurance company or partners
  • Discrepancy between the asset list and what exists in fact in the factory

Recent work

30 pieces of industrial equipment, a single methodology

Textile plant in Santa Catarina with equipment manufactured in the 1960s and 1970s, all of it out of operation. The survey standardized the identification, condition assessment and photographic record of each asset, which made it possible to value the entire lot against a uniform criterion.

  • Individual sheet for each piece of equipment, with six blocks of data collection
  • 255 photographic records classified by purpose: nameplate, serial number, motor, transmission and panel
  • Nameplate checked against the client's asset list, with discrepancies recorded
  • Operating condition noted as observed, not as reported
  • Documentation absence recorded as uncertainty factor of the report

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between valuation and equipment condition report?

The condition report describes condition, safety and operation. The valuation goes further and assigns value, with method, market research and statement of assumptions. Both start from the same inspection and can be delivered together.

Does the machine need to be running?

No. We register the situation effectively observed: running, stopped or not observed. A stopped machine is valued by its current condition, and this registration enters the caveats of the report.

What documents do I need to gather?

Asset list or patrimonial sheet, acquisition invoices, manuals, technical sheets and maintenance records. What does not exist does not impede the work, but is recorded, because absent documentation increases the uncertainty of the valuation.

Is the report accepted by banks, insurance companies and the courts?

The report is elaborated according to ABNT NBR 14653 and signed with ART. Each institution may have its own requirements for format and purpose; therefore, we define the purpose and recipient before the inspection.

Do you value large lots of equipment?

Yes. In a recent work, we valued 30 pieces of industrial equipment, with individual sheet and 255 photographic records. The standardization of the survey maintains the comparability between the assets of the lot.

How long does it take and how much does it cost?

It depends on the number of items, the diversity of types and the access. We inform scope, deadline and value in the proposal, after knowing the asset list and the purpose of the valuation.
